MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This is an exciting time for the Roundhouse as we enter a new business plan, with ambitions to significantly expand our youth music programmes for young people aged 11 – 30yrs.
This new role will design a new strand of programming to support young people from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds, through high quality and industry relevant training opportunities that will enable them to access the music industry.
Working alongside our existing youth music as well as collaborating with the Head of Music on our live events, the Senior Youth Music Industry Programme Manager will devise and implement new initiatives that link Roundhouse’s broad music oer for young people to music industry partners.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Programme Design, Development and Delivery:
- Work with the relevant Heads of Department to develop a Music Industry strategy in collaboration with external partners, to establish industry facing partnerships.
- Work closely with Artistic / Producing Teams to broaden opportunities for young people to gain paid experience in o-stage and technical roles within Roundhouse’s annual three sixty festival.
- Work with the Head of Music to formalise and scale up progression pathways into industry facing training initiatives, utilising opportunities across the Music sector.
- Oversee the delivery of high quality music programmes and initiatives aimed at engaging a wide and diverse range of young people to progress through a varied programme of music focused opportunities.
- Devise and implement a music alumni network, including engagement, tracking and reporting mechanisms.
- Lead the development of showcasing and platforming opportunities across all areas of the youth music programme.
- Embed the voice of young people within programme planning, delivery and evaluation.
- Oversee the youth music programme budget and provide financial reports as required.
- Ensure all programmed activities and provisions are delivered safely and in line with organisational policies, and in accordance to funding and service level agreements.
Evaluation:
- Responsible for delivering KPIs and key milestones for music programmes / projects in line with the Roundhouse Business Plan, Theory of Change and Evaluation Framework.
- Responsible for overseeing the accurate reporting of data relating to designated projects in conjunction with the Directors and relevant Heads of Departments against agreed Roundhouse criteria and outcomes.
People Management:
- Oversee the work of the youth music programme team; supporting the smooth running of programmes and stang for 11-30’s initiatives.
- Effectively lead and manage a team, identifying and implementing opportunities for development and performance improvement in line with HR processes.
- Matrix manage Roundhouse STA members delivering music industry initiatives across the organisation.
- Ensure effective induction, communication and compliance processes with Casual Sta and Freelance Tutors / Artists (including safeguarding, health and safety and quality assurance) – ensuring that all sta are clear on the relevant policies and procedures.
General:
- Working closely with Roundhouse colleagues, ensure compliance with all relevant legislative requirements, including health and safety, and safeguarding.
- As a member of the Youth Programme team at the Roundhouse, play an active role in organisation-wide activities, including attending and supporting Roundhouse events.
- To be committed to putting young people at the heart of everything we do.
- To promote and comply with current legislation and the Roundhouses policies on Equality, Diversity and Health & Safety both in the delivery of services and the treatment of others.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
- Substantial experience of managing music industry facing training programmes, including design, development, delivery and evaluation.
- Experience of cultivating and managing high profile music industry partnerships
- Excellent knowledge and experience of technical, onstage and business management career development opportunities within the music industry.
- An understanding of the needs of young people from diverse backgrounds, and a commitment to embedding inclusive practice, ensuring equitable access to programmes and opportunities.
- Experience of leading monitoring and evaluation of high quality learning and development programmes.
- Proven people management experience, including direct line management and managing a team to achieve outstanding results.
- Proven ability to work as part of a wider team to achieve organisational targets – building relationships and communicating eectively at all levels, internally and externally.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage a substantial portfolio of projects, prioritising duties and responsibilities appropriately.
- Proven skills in financial management and report writing skills.
Conditions
- Contract 12 Months – Full Time
- Hours 35 hours per week (excluding breaks). Weekend and evening work will be required according to business needs.
- Annual Leave The annual leave period runs from April to March and you will be entitled to 25 days holiday per year plus Bank Holidays
- Notice Period 2 months
