Job description
  • Overseeing addition of new compositions into Ultra databases and copyright/royalty systems and managing these databases with up-to-date information
  • Working with Coordinator to register Ultra compositions with collection societies (including ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, HFA, MLC, SOCAN, CMRRA, and several foreign societies) via CWR files (using copyright/royalty software)
  • Resolving worldwide counterclaims and disputes of Ultra copyrights at collection societies
  • Managing daily publishing catalog inquiries (including counterclaims and disputes) from external sources
  • Completing society registration checks for new Ultra signings, so we’re aware of any potential issues or existing claims by other publishers
  • Sending monthly catalog updates of new Ultra compositions to local and foreign affiliates
  • Maintaining relationships with sub publishers and foreign collection societies
  • Participating in royalty review process with publishing administration team and CEO bi-annually to assess the status of Ultra writer’s royalties accounts and determine if there are any issues that need to be addressed
  • Handling inquiries from Ultra writers about the status of composition registrations, resolution of potential registration issues, and general royalty collection matters
  • Drafting and issuing direct mechanical licenses to major and independent record labels
  • Distributing cue sheets for film and TV projects to sub publishers to ensure they are registered with international collection societies

Qualifications
  • 3 – 5 years minimum of music publishing copyright experience, with a comprehensive understanding of songwriter splits and registration procedures
  • Familiar with publishing/songwriter agreements and legal terminology
  • Prior experience working with CWR files is preferable
  • Counterpoint/Music Maestro/Curve (or equivalent software) experience a plus
  • Strong organization skills and high attention to detail
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines and handle multiple, diverse assignments
  • Capacity to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Adept at identifying problems and figuring out solutions
